Other Activities: April 2009

This is the third of the monthly “Other Activities” post.

I propose the following for this month:

  • Another 7 or 8-side game at The Premier Pitch, Turf City, on 25 April 2009.    Whether we start at 4 pm or 5 pm will depend on the poll.  This time, I would prefer to keep it an entirely FIOFAFI affair, so we’ll need 14 to 16 players.
  • Watch another S. League game on a Friday night at Jalan Besar Stadium.   I’ve looked through the fixtures for April 2009, and the most interesting Friday night match is Brunei’s DPMM against league leaders Gombak United on 10 April 2009.   If DPMM win their game in hand this Friday (3 April 2009), they will join Gombak United at the top with 17 points after 7 games, which would make the match on 10 April 2009 a top of the table clash.  Even at this early stage of the season, Gombak United and DPMM both look like dark horses for the title.

Cage cricket and an over-40s session remain under consideration.

If you’re interested in any of these, add a comment below.  Those of you who have already stated an interest in Cage cricket needn’t repeat yourselves.

Anyone else who would like to propose any activity other than the regular futsal sessions on weekday nights, please add a comment below.  If you can, also set out how the activity is to be organised.  If the activity is popular, and I have the time to do so, I’ll try to help organise it.

–> would anyone be keen to play at SAFRA Tampines instead ?
we could do a 11-a-side game?
Amongst Fiofafi players or against another team ?

Yuchi, i believe rajiv has sent u and email. Anyways, my firm’s team is interested to play an 11 a side game. We have an empty slot on 10 May (Sunday). Hope that we can get something going. Might need yr help to organise pitch and ref. We’ll see how it goes on the response on this side.

Dennis W SMSed me a short while ago to ask:

Are u able to form a 7 aside game at turf city tmr? My side have 7 pple.

    I replied to say:

Weekends are difficult. It takes at least 2 weeks planning to get anything going for the weekend.

However, if anyone is interested, SMS me, and I’ll provide you with Dennis’s mobile number.

Dennis came back to me the same evening to suggest 25 April 2008. I already have a booking for that afternoon. However, we now have a proposal for an 11-a-side game that afternoon.

Depending on whether the 11-a-side game goes ahead, we could do the 7 or 8-a-side game at The Premier Pitch on 25 April 2009 or the following Saturday (2 May 2009), 5 to 6 pm.

Anyone up for a re-match against Dennis’s team?

Dennis, as it looks like we may have an 11-a-side in the afternoon of 25 April 2009, would you be interested in having the 7 or 8-a-side at Turf City on either 1 May 2009 (May Day public holiday), or Saturday, 2 May 2009?

I see some of you guys every week and I think ‘you know what ? Inside these football obsessed blokes there is a gentler, softer, more cultural animal trying to get out’.

That is why I am invitiing you to a play I am in at DBS Arts Centre called ‘Midsummer Nights Dream’. It is probably one of Shakespeares sexiest shows. What better way to treat your woman than a little bit of theatre, some after show wine and who knows even you might get lucky.

Any way tickets on sale now if you are interested and yes I will sign your programmes if you come.
