Separating GIFFA From FIFA(OFI)
Although the blog started off as a platform for organising regular indoor football, the regular indoor football is now entirely on the GIFFA Message Board, from scheduling, to reports, to the monthly round ups.
Other ad hoc football games, whether indoor football or 11-a-side games, can be proposed and organized either through the “Queries, Suggestions & Chat” board of the GIFFA message board or through the latest “OPSAGE” post on the blog. The “Queries, Suggestions & Chat” board also covers queries about GIFFA and general chat about football. The “Monthly Round Ups” and “Queries, Suggestions & Chat” boards are both under the “General” category of the message board.
Apart from the “Current GIFFA Games” page which summarizes on the blog the current GIFFA games and reports, and other references to GIFFA as part of general information about FIFA(OFI) on the pages above (“About FIFA(OFI)”, “Participation”, “Sustainability” and “Fun”), posts on the blog about GIFFA will generally relate to development issues. A separate “GIFFA” category has been created for the blog. The categories will be revised over time to reflect this shift. The summaries of the GIFFA system, principles and rules will also remain on the blog for now.
The blog will increasingly focus on non-football activities and interests for adults.
The monthly update has a new look. The monthly update for May will be sent out today. The update is sent out by e-mail once a month to (a) everyone on the GIFFA Participant List, (b) everyone who has played in the past year and who may still be interested and (c) everyone who may be interested, including those who have registered on the GIFFA Message Board but have yet to play, provided I have their e-mail addresses.
This is different from the GIFFA Participant List, which is also sent out once a month, but only those on the list.
We played against Dennis W’s team on a Saturday evening about a year ago (2 May 2009), the start of regular weekend games at Turf City, which eventually settled down to the regular Sunday evening game at Turf City.
In fact, our first ever representative game was also on a Saturday afternoon in May, the year before (10 May 2008).
