Monday Night At Two Venues: 12 October 2009

Tue 13 October 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

We had two games last night:

  • Usual FAFI game at Turf City.
  • Extra representative game at The Cage.

The line ups for the FAFI game were as follows:

  • Reds:  Clive, George, Mark C, Clement, Teik, Jye.
  • Blacks:  Rajseran, Gilbert L, Neil M, Sushil, Elvin, Jason D

Tom presumed Blacks would lose.  Was he right?  Anyone, the result and any other comments below please.

The FIOFAFI team for the game against Anil and his team (usually Suraj’s team, but he was away) were:  Bobby, Fred, Nick, Sze Kuan, Yaseen.

Bobby added the following comment last night:

Game followed same pattern as last 2 games against Suraj’s team – we went behind early before recovering to win by 2.

This time we were 2-0 down before we found our scoring touch. There was then no more than 1 goal between us until we scored the last three goals to run out 11-9 winners.

They showed up with 6 players and played with a rolling sub. Even so, we more than matched them stamina-wise. They outdid us in team play and positioning, though. Kudos to Nick, Fred & Yaseen for some superb goals.

Yaseen sent me the following SMS after the game:

End to end stuff.  Non stop action.  Opponents were good and had an extra man which they used as a rolling sub.  Game was close but we won 11-9 in the end.

Very similar to the two previous games against Suraj’s team:

  • On 13 August 2009.  We won 7-5 in the end, after being 3-0 down early on and 4-3 down late on.
  • On 28 September 2009.  We won 10-8, after being 3-0 down early on and 8-6 down late on.

Like Bobby said, they play better as a team, but we have greater fitness. Evenly-matched games each time.

It ended 8-7 to Reds. There was some friendly dispute at the end as Blacks forced a corner during United time when they were trailing. Reds called time, but Blacks (no doubt Raj in particular) carried on and the ball went in.

How can you call time when the game was in play . It was our last corner . Just like how Referees blow the final whistle only after United MUST equalise.

I agree with Raj…..it is not time when one team decides to call it. It has to be unanimous rite?? Well, maybe u guys will call us sore losers but i think it is only fair to call time when both sides decide it is time.

Tom, believe u have been in this position before?
