Wow a highly charged and competitive game! With so many good players on either side, it was bound to be a cracker. When I saw the lineups, i was salivating at the prospect of playing on Mon.

Reds started off the scoring with a couple of good goals. Danger came from many angles with Dan a constant menace, Kin winning alot of balls in midfield and Neil and Raj making good runs at the defence.

Blacks started slower but did a better job gelling together overall eventually IMHO. Imran deserves special mention in my books (gets my vote too)! He was the virtual dynamo in the team, starting from defence where many vital interceptions and blocks help us maintain our shape and also in midfield bringing the ball up and in attach scoring many stunners including long shots and cheeky flips etc. He was all over the place!!!

Alex was inspirational with his deft touches and long distance shots as well. Jye did well in midfield often creating the openings by drawing people to him then spreading the passes. And Ron as usual hard running and strategic positioning in front of goal.

Jason was also key to the main strengths of Blacks game last nite. He was solely resp for helping Blacks to keep possession (ever tried taking the ball off Jason? Very HARD!!) and also making the vital runs.

I tried my best to help defend but hv to admit it was a really tough task with Kin on the right constantly free, Dan marauding force all over the front and Raj coming up from nowhere and Gilbert doing something like Jason bringing the ball all the way up to scoring position. Very fast paced.

Reds led for the first half of the game but Blacks established the lead after some very well taken shots at goal. Galvanised, Blacks continued their onslaught and Reds were at sixes and sevens during 3rd quarter of the game. Credit to Reds who rallied towards the final quarter and closed the gap to the final score of 10-13 win for Blacks!!

We ended about 10 mins past the hour and such was the game that many players were prepared to go on still.

    But great game overall.

Agreed – Great match last night. Imran played extremely well at the back, in the middle and up front!

It was a great game and thanks for your votes guys. I was a little skeptical of the line up at first because the Reds had a very strong attacking line up. But the Blacks played hard throughout the game. I could not put it better than Damian did.. but I will give my vote to Damian. He played up for like 15 mins (managed to score I think 3 or more in that time), defended a lot (keeping Dan at bay) and then was always volunteering to be the goal keeper (and did a hell of a job at it)..

I would say everyone played exceptional. Alex and Ron had some really good combinations and Jason was constantly helping us to keep possession. Jay also played a great defensive role in supporting Jason and managed to feed all the great passed to Alex and Ron.

From the Reds side, I would say that their only bad approach was that they didn’t take enough shots on goal. With shooters like Rajseran, Dan and Neil, you guys should have pummeled us. And with Gilbert in defense and Bob in support and Kin feeding the ball at impossible angles, Reds did look to be the better team on paper but all said and done… it was a great match and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it… Even the extra 10 mins (when the Reds really looked like they could make a come back). Cheers guys!!!

Sorry to hear about the injury Bob! Hope you are better. Don’t mess with the back, I am dealing with a couple of back, knee and ankle problems myself and I wld recommend my physio (they are not the normal ones who don’t help very much but simply do ultra sound, short wave and a little massage) but they actually delve into the musculoskeletal analysis and root cause of the problem instead of merely symptomatic relief.
