Monday Night At Two Venues: 28 September 2009

Tue 29 September 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

We had two games last night:

  • the regular Monday night FAFI game at Turf City, and
  • an extra representative game at The Cage.

The line ups for the FAFI game were:

  • Blacks:  George, Tom, Santi, Teik, Gilbert L and Jason D
  • Reds:  Elvin, Neil M, Jye, Rajseran, Imran, Alex T

According to Rajseran, “Think [Reds] won with 5 goal difference”.

Any further comments below please.

We lined up in red as follows for our second match against Suraj’s team in blue:   Reza, John J, Bobby, Rajiv, Alex F.  Again, we were in red and they were in blue.

Again, it was a very even match, with a fair mix of good moves, great goals, great saves, and bad misses.  Blues started strongly and took a 3-0 lead.  We pulled back to 3-2, only for Blues to extend their lead to 4-2.  We kept pulling back to within one goal, only for them to extend their lead to 2 goals, up to 8-6.  We finished more strongly, to win 10-8.

Very similar to the previous game with them, where they took a 3 goal lead but we won by 2 goals in the end.

Any other comments below please.

It was an exciting match for sure last night . 0-0 the first 10 mins with both teams trying their luck at the goal but eventually The Blacks were leading 3-0 and that was when Rajseran said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Not forgetting the handicap i gave earlier Blacks -1.5 and a good bet for Reds to win at a nice price . Oh yes George scored the first goal and that i punted at $50 too 🙂 .

Anyway Reds came back strongly at 3-3 before the blacks took the lead again at 4-3 and eventually 5-4 . 5-5 and back to 6-5 and that was the last we saw blacks scoring cause the rest was all abt Reds .

I believe everyone in Reds had their fair chance to score + we also decided not to take credit for 2 goals – one was when John was having his water parade when Neil scored and the other one where Blacks claimed that the ball hit the roof net ( but they did not realise that the ball actually bounced back to Teik and made it an own goal 🙂 )

    Final score 11- 6 i think . Good game and i made some $$$$ 🙂

Oh yes Tom was a tough nut to crack when he plays keeper but when the reds came back strongly trying all kind of shots , somehow , somewhere , his nutsgot cracked and goals , goals , goals was all we could see 🙂 .

The odds were Reds to give 3 goals so the result was about right. I think Gilbert is fed up with playing for the underdogs the past 3-4 weeks 🙂 so we’ll have to do something about that soon. Good game – thanks to all.

I was going to write something earlier, but Rajiv’s report seemed to do the biz. I think we had a great game on monday – i’m not sure whether it was because our team consisted of Cage “regulars” or we were playing an unfamiliar oppo, but it made for a very interesting game with contrasting styles and systems. We went 3-0 down and could have been in for a thrashing, had we not adapted our defending style to play more like a unit. This meant that the blues had limited opportunities and were left to try their luck with long range efforts from their own half. I gather that they are also used to playing with a couple of subs, so our stamina over the full 1 hour made quite a big difference.

    Any chance of a rematch?
