Wednesday Night At Sports Planet: 16 September 2009

We had back-to-back representative games last night at Sports Planet against the team of Hairuddin and Mark T.   It was actually their company team, practising for an upcoming tournament.

They had 8 players, playing 5 at a time with 3 rolling substitutes.  My aim was to put together two separate teams, so that we played one hour flat out, as per our usual sessions.  They played in white, we in red.

Our team for the first game was  Neil M, John J, Steve F, Benjamin, Desmond T.  Benjamin was late, so I started in his place.

Whites had good players used to playing together regularly, and they were quickly 9-0  ahead.  However, we came back well to close the gap.  The game finished 15-9 to Whites.

Neil M and Steve F was down to play the second game as well, but due to certain confusion, Steve F changed up after the first game, so John J continued for the first half hour of the second game and Benjamin took over the second half hour.  Our team was Kevin, Murali, Neil M, Rajiv, John J/Benjamin.

We started better this time, and were still in it at 2-4 down, but we gave the ball away too often, and as fatigue got the better of us, it allowed Whites to pull away.  Whites won 17-5 in the end.

For the fun of it, I’ll do a player poll.  As for representative games, only the FIOFAFI teams are included:

I also took a short clip of the first game:

Sure felt like we conceded more than 17 in the 2nd game.

Anyway, I should have made more of the 1-on-1 chances against the keeper. Had at least 5 of those I think. My bad!

It often seems worse than it is. 🙂

A few of us had chances we didn’t take. I don’t think it was 5 for you alone.

On the sleep side of things, it definitely worked out better. No more playing until midnight!

I had some concern how a later game would affect my sleep, but I fell asleep very quickly!
