Very few of the 10 at Sports Planet last night had played together before, so it was a disjointed start to the game. Reds were quicker off the mark, and were soon 6-0 ahead. Blacks managed to pull two goals back, but a combination of giving the ball away and lack of defence saw Blacks fall 2-11 behind. Murali pulling a hamstring did not help Blacks’ cause.

Blacks then had their best spell, pulling the score back to 8-13, before further slackness saw them fall 8-18 behind.

Blacks started to get their game going again, pulling two goals back, when time was called.

Final score: Reds 18 Blacks 10.

Blacks conceded several very soft goals, but Reds missed several good chances, more than Blacks did at any rate, so overall, the score was a fair reflection of the game.

Over at the Cage, Reds punished the Blacks right from the begining, putting in 4 quick goals. Taken aback, Blacks soon got their act together with a couple of replies but was never able to close the gap to within 2 goals. Reds were allowed too much space and with their superior ball handling and command of space, launched wave after wave of attacks. Azmi in midfield with Alan and Melvin on the flanks caused alot of problems for Blacks. Even when Reds began to tired, Blacks had no answer to breaking runs through the middle of the park and good shooting by Reds. Andy P produced some fanastic goals but Weeliam and Sze Kuan were guilty of wasting too many chances infront of goal. Andy M had a quiet game but even with Federico’s tiredless runs, Reds ran away with a 9-6 victory.
