FAFI Notes: 3 August 2009

The line ups were:

  • Blacks: Yaseen, George, Wade, Gilbert, Mark C, Ron
  • Reds:  Nick, Tom, Rizal, Mark L, Imran, Rajseran

Well what a colourful game tonight ended up being in both language and football.

The colour of the victors was black. They connected well and played simple yet effective football that turned the reds into a bunch of hot headed, dragons breathing little fire but plenty of hot air.

The colour of the language was blue. If you were going to have a quote of the match instead of a man of the match it would probably go to Tom. Tom’s has an arsenal (great team) of quotes at hand ready for any comeback necessary or unnecessary. I like “You want my IC is it?” or when asked to call for the ball more ‘got to say please is it?’. This all adds to the premier pitch carnival. Perhaps we should have a quote of the match vote as well.

The word most used in this match rhymes with Duck but begins with F. It was used repeatedly by many including myself and some people managed to say it like they meant it.

Massive props go out to Yaseem. I thought he was really central to the black’s success and I feel the position of staying back a little more really suits him. He has gone from being a flamboyant attacker looking for the perfect goal to a really effective attacking defender. Of course Ron as ever full of running, Gilbert and Wade Marshalling, Mark in full support and with George slamming them in it all just worked.

Unlike Reds who looked like there was little in the way of communicating. At times I felt about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Too many arguments between team members followed by too many wild shots at goal and not enough or perhaps too much Viagra is probably to blame. The Reds should play again but the Blacks must play fair more and share more arguments between their players as it is only fair. Reds should go on a male bonding retreat, where they bang drums, build huts for the homeless and save each other from near death experiences.

Can’t remember the score it goes a little like Blacks: a lot – Reds: a lot less.
By the way, just so you have it on record Imran showed us what the copy artists are producing for this seasons new shirts.

ha2 … vat’s the kind of game I like – colour or otherwise – I call it passion!!? wat do you expect – reds?! when u hv mark c and george in one team – u r always asking for a whipping – ?!! I cant say I hv seen yaseem play but george is not nicknamed “alan shearer” for no apparent reason – and mark C is the best there is on the flanks – in a 5-6 a side pitch – honestly, could the team hv been somewat unbalanced tho?… I mean Tom din have me in his side – otherwise it may hv helped cos I could taken out 1 player or 2 ….heh2..anyway seems like a good game guys!! keep the posts coming – anyone contacted heath so far to get him to play?

Hi Dennis, how’s life in Hong Kong? Playing regularly?

Heath has played a couple of times since 1 April 2009. Details can be found in the participation records.

We all have our moments Nick! And I had never had anyone comment on my glasses and game performance before (in the same statement). This game was surely a Test… one that I have no shame of failing. Cheers

yesterday game could actually be a fun and nice workout. Thanks to some cockiness pre match bollocks, it triggered me to defend like mad.. As a whole, i feel blacks maintain e composure better. Reds could have come back also. Special mentions to Nick who always pushing his team forward regardless of e circumstances. Oh ya.. Rajseran.. What happened to your comments bout this game? Nothing to say? Got shut? Heart overcomes everything else..!

YOu have alot to say since you were in a winning team , i cant imagine if you were in my place , the blog would have been full by now.

Everyone could see that Tom has not recovered yet and benefit of adult , he still tried but at one point i guess he could not take it anymore. I would not minus Tom but it was obvious that we were as good as one player down versus 6 players

If Tom would have been fit , it would have been totally a diff ball game. Reds managed to score and that showed that we still were playing but overall when you are down by one player , it makes alot of difference . Anyway i changed the line up because Wade did commented on the Rankings therefore i gave a shot on this .

I have not played with Tom for a long time and did not know that he still yet to be recovered.

Anyway Whites won and it was an easy win for them versus 5 players. Therefore its not a WOW thingy . We were just handicapped

Take note that Monday games , it would purely judged by individual players and not Rankings .

The point that YAseen got triggered to defend like mad only showed that Reds still managed to push despite having one player down .

Better luck Reds, its just one of those days

triggered me to defend like mad is something that happened before the game.. Thanks to u… Its not because i was on winning team.. Its because of cockiness like i said n my team mates agree too.. Mentioning names not nessesary. For the record, Tom was playing.. He gave couple of crunching tackles. Come on Raj, v usually have this war of words n when im ahead, u fret.. Come on mate.. Its all bout sporstmanship..

Haha.. I like playing with you too Nick. But like you said in one of the games, “I can be a little too unselfish at times and miss a good opportunity on goal”.. as for the swearing bit, you were inspiring the team on where as I was going dam dam dam… 😀 Not really like me but hey, we are all humans.. and I guess when I moved up to score I did little to come back and defend so that was a bad move on my part. But Raj did make some great passes and Rizal and Mark were outstanding.. sadly it just was not our night. Interesting night though, I could write a book on it. LOL

gosh…this all makes interesting reading – cant believe all of u r so mean to “yas” – but hey Yas, dont be angst abt it – I wud probably gripe abt you as well if it were true – but yes, from past experiences – the eagerness and competitive spirit wills one to win – sometimes to the pt of being rude and filthy – ha2 – Tom n I and a few others have had our run ins – and alot of swearing – most of the time in good fun – but in the past, we never had a blog or forum to bitch abt it afterwards – so you can imagine the amount of hot air and pent up frustrations I had in me on a monday – (cos our games are usually on sundays) – shame I am now in HK – otherwise I would gladly be apart of such colourful events – and true abt hving to play wif one man down against a team comprisiing of George and Mark C – r u guys mad?? u obviously dun know George and Mark C well enuf – ha2 unless u had me in your 5 man team – cos then I will take out George and Mark as well –

they dont call me roy keane for nothing – ha2 – sorry just my bit of bantering since I miss playing wif you lot but I play sometimes here Rajiv although not as interesting as what you guys get there –

enjoy it hombres – and see u soon –

        Thu 6 August 2009 at 5:19 pm

        ha2 – one can only dream – ha2

anyway it would have to be the Asian FAFI version of Roy Keane anyway – but you may want to look closer – you might be convinced next time we play – at least in the manner I snarl at other players like Keane does –

Dennis is the only player to have booked for dissent in one of our 11-a-side games.

I just felt the overwhelming urge to let the ref know his performance before the game is awashed further with shite decisions?!!

“Yaseen, it’s not the first time you’ve referred to the exchange between Tom and Dennis.”

well you dont often get Tom airing his views – he has been pent up for way too long – and I din even realise he had the bollocks to post a reply – glad he did cos I feel a duty towards the game to reply –
