Sunday Evening At Turf City: 2 August 2009

The default line ups for this evening were:

  • Whites: Poh Keng, Ron, Timmy, Sivaraj, Erik, Desmond, Balach, Sonny, See Kit
  • Reds: Azmi, Damian B, Shankar, Anthony, Damian Y, Bernard, Mervin, Mani

As there were several new or newer players, I went down to watch the session.

Poh Keng, Erik and Sonny, who were coming together, were caught in traffic, so Mani started with Whites, 7-a-side, played within the lines. The session started about 10 minutes late. It was a close game, with the score tied at 2-2 by the time the three of them arrived about 10 minutes later. They joined Whites and Mani switched back to Reds. With 9 v 8, the play continued off the side nets.

With the man advantage, Whites pulled away to a 5-3 lead. Damian Y injured his ankle after about 40 minutes, so Poh Keng switched to Reds, and the session continued 8 v 8, off the nets.

Reds came back to win 7-5. The game came to an end at about 6.20 pm, when Shankar took a knock to the ankle.

The 3 new players all had decent games. Considering it was the first time several of the players were playing together, it was a good game.

As Whites won half the game, and Reds won the other half, I’ll put it down as a draw, except for Poh Keng – as he was on the winning side both times, I’ll put it down as a win for him.

I took a clip while I was there:
