John S SMSed to say that Blacks ran away with it towards the end to win 15+ to 8.

Yesterday’s (30/7)session was great. It was wonderful to see many moves involving six or seven passes being strung together before a shot was fired in the direction of the opponent’s goal. The build-up play, the general tempo of the game and the off-the-ball running were truly eye-catching. A ‘futsal’ ball (heavier and low bounce upom impact) would have served us even better and possibly ruled out the “accidents” precipitated by players contesting for the bouncing-all-over-the place balls. When playing in confined spaces/areas it is of paramount importance to keep the ball on the deck as far as possible. Any comments on this…? After all, the name of the game is ‘futsal’, isn’t it?

It’s great to return to the game after a few months’ rest. I truly enjoyed the game ,and my initial worry for my fitness was uncalled for. Of course, playing with 3 young & energetic players (John J, Damian B, Luis) and not forgetting veteran Rajan whose calmness and ball skills was inviting to the eyes, did help me to have an easy game.
Credit to be given to the Reds for their fighting spirit.

BTW, I agreed with Rajan that the ball is rather bouncy.

      The ages were quite balanced:

      • Reds: Bobby (42), John S (33), Alex F (38), Ian (39), Bernard (26)
      • Blacks: John J (41), Damian B (27), Luis (26), Rajan (55), Kit Hoong (47)

As for the ball, was this the one supplied by The Cage? You can use any ball really. I leave it to those playing in a session. Rajan has offered to bring a futsal ball with lower bounce. I have a couple of futsal balls too. The one I use though is a standard size 4 ball, smaller than the standard size 5 ball.

I absolutely agree that a futsal ball fits much better in such a confined space as The Cage.

I would even say that we should play 4 against 4, to allow for more active playing and not too much confusion.

Finally, I think there should be lines, ie, we shouldn’t plau with the wall
