Pre-UEFA Champions League Final Session

We now have 21 players for the pre-UEFA Champions League Final session at The Cage, Kallang.  As the Final kicks off at 2.45 am Singapore time, the session is from 1 to 2 am.

The 21 are – Lukas, Philipp, Andy M, Murray, Matt, Yuchi, Timmy, Poh Keng, Melvin C, Yaseen, Azmi, Weeliam, Lin Kang, Damian, Qaleel, John J, Steve F + Damian’s four friends.  Damian, as spoken, your four friends can pair up to take turns, so we still have place for one more.

The Cage will be screening the Final on a big screen to be set up on Pitch 2.  Food and drink (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available for sale.

We have two pitches for our futsal session.  I propose that we have four teams playing two semi-finals in the first half hour, with the winners playing in a final and the losers playing in a third & fourth placing match – a mini knock-out tournament.

I also propose that you pick your own team based on who you will be supporting in the Final – Barcelona, Manchester United or neutral.  Assuming that there will be more Manchester United supporters, the four teams could be:

  • Barcelona (Blacks).  So far, Lukas has stated his support.
  • Manchester United One (Reds).  So far, Yaseen has stated his support.
  • Manchester United Two (Whites).
  • Neutrals (Green or blue  or bibs).

Choose your team as a comment below.  Damian, I leave it to you to choose for yourself and your four friends.  As they’re all new, and according to you, more “couch” footballers, we should place each pair in a different team.

Once each team has 5 players (6 for the two teams with a pair of Damian’s friends each, who will have priority in the teams Damian picks for them), that team is full and can take no more players, so choose early if you want to be sure of getting in the team you want.

The two semi-finals will be:

  • SF1:  Barcelona v Neutrals
  • SF2:  Manchester United One v Manchester United Two

The third and fourth placing match will be Losers of SF1 v Losers of SF2.

The Final will be Winners of SF1 v Winners of SF2.

Please also indicate how many of you will be staying on to watch the UEFA Champions League Final at The Cage.

Even if you’re not playing, you’re welcome to join us later to watch the Final. I’ll be there if I’m still awake. 🙂

Actually, there many not be that many Man Utd fans playing tonight, so Manchester United Two may end up becoming Neutral Two or Mixed Team.

Lin Kang has replied to my SMS with Barcelona, Shankar with Man United.

I’ve allocated Damian and John J based on the Participant List. John J played with White yesterday so I think he might need to be with Reds today.

Timmy was in a meeting, so I’ve allocated him where he’s needed.

    I’ve re-aligned the teams a bit. Provisionally:

    • Barcelona (Blacks): Lukas, Andy M, Philipp, Lin Kang, Yuchi.
    • Man Utd (Reds): Yaseen, Qaleel, Matt, Shankar, John J.
    • Man Utd/tending towards Man Utd (Whites): Weeliam, Murray, Damian, Timmy, 2 of Damian’s friends.
    • Neutral (Greens or Blues): Poh Keng, Melvin C, Azmi, Steve F, 2 of Damian’s firends.
