Favourite Clubs Update

On 5 December 2008, I asked, “Which Club Do You Support?”

Several of you have provided the answer on the blog or when providing me your details for the Participant List.  I’ve also picked up the identity of the club supported from conversation with several others.

Where I have the information, it has been added to the Participant List.  The following clubs have more than two supporters amongst our participants:

  • Manchester United – 27 participants.
  • Liverpool – 9 participants.
  • Everton – 3 participants.
  • Arsenal – 2 participants.

Anyone whose club I don’t have, feel free to provide it as a comment below.  With the football season in much of Europe coming to an end this month, it’s time to wear your loyalties on your sleeve.

As football is international and multi-tiered, I’ve split the “Favouite Clubs” column in the Participant List into two, so that everyone can identify both a first club and a second club if they wish.

The only restriction is that both clubs cannot be from the same league.  It wouldn’t make sense.

If you haven’t got a second club, or a club at all, you could always pick the S. League club closest to where you live.

Boris, you can only pick two from Manchester United, Barcelona and Rangers, or any other club that you follow.   I suppose Hamburg won’t be one of the two.   Apart from being German, they’re lying fifth in the Bundesliga, and have been knocked out in the semifinals of both the German Cup and the UEFA Cup.  🙂

If the profile of the participants for a session so allows, sometime in the future, I might try line ups based on the players’ favourite clubs, for example, Manchester United fans v Liverpool fans.

Tom, if you haven’t decided on the line ups for Monday night’s session at Turf City, you could be try that.

Do you currently favour any particular Italian club (or two)? If you later change your mind, let me know, and I’ll update the list accordingly. If you can’t pick an Italian club, how about an S. League club? 🙂

If you really can’t pick a club at all, it’ll just have to be blank for you.

Way back during RAJAGOPAL, SAMAD ALI PITCHAY AND QUAH QIM SONG time, Mohan bagan football club came to Singapore for a friendly and they beat the Singapore team twice. There was a particular winger called Habib that was giving singapore fullbacks a torrid time. Mohan Bagan club is still the most popular club in India
