3-1 To FIOFAFI

As commented on by Rajseran last night, we won the 11-a-side game against Steve’s team (Reds) at Meridian Junior College yesterday afternoon.

Our starting 11 were:  Sze Kuan (GK), Bobby (LB), Yuchi (RB), Gilbert (CB), Andy (CB), Joel (LM), Kevin (DM), Nick (AM), Chris (RM), Luke (S), Rajseran (S).

As Reds only had 10 players, we loaned them Alan, who was in any event wearing a red jersey.  We took an early lead, and were comfortable throughout the first half.  Nick added a second, and we led 2-0 at half time.

With rolling substitutions, Sushil (RM), Matt (DM), Murray (AM), Damian (LB), Alan (CB, wearing Damian’s spare white top), Benjamin (LM) came on at various times, and some on the starting 11 came back on in different positions, in particular, Rajseran in midfield (with Nick up front), Chris at left back and Andy in midfield.  Only Sze Kuan and Luke played the whole game.

Reds scored early in the second half and threatened for a while, before we took control again, creating several openings, only to be let down by the final ball, until Andy popped up late in the game with our third.  A comfortable win in the end.

For the fun of it, I’ll do a poll.

I’ll also add the game to the attendance and rankings as an unranked win.

This is actually a move Michael Flatley of River Dance fame taught me, never thought I would be able to use it as a football move but there you go.

“Give us another chance, we’re sorry for Riverdance, sure Flatley he’s a yank”.

After the game, I told Steve we’d take him back, if he paid us a transfer fee.

little idea, like the pictures. Why not air brush out the ball and have a spot the ball comp after each game ? Winner gets two tickets to a Geylang S League match 🙂

GG lads! I have forgotten how fun 11-a-side matches are!! I think we have doing quite well in 11-a-sides considering that our mainstay is still futsal. Lets test this with next upcoming games against IBM (2nd or 3rd wk of Mar)! I will be posting this in the Other Activities link v soon!

Thanks Damian. Put up the proposal as a new post under the “Other Activities” category first. Go on, give your first post a go. We can add it to the “Polls & Other Activities” page later.
