FIOFAFI Sessions At FICO

Wed 4 February 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

We’ve had some good sessions at FICO in Jurong West with Franco’s colleagues on Sunday evenings.

We played to the lines as the FICO pitches are slightly bigger than even those at Turf City, which required, as well as provided the space for, better passing, which in turn made for a better game.  Also, with the same kind of netting as at Turf City and Sports Planet, and the bigger pitches, the place seems airier.

Apart from Franco and his colleagues, Boris, Damian, Rajseran, Rizal, Yaseen and myself have played at the FICO sessions.  Yaseen’s friend, Zai, and cousin, Qaleel, have also played with us there, as have Jit and Desmond, two of Ronak’s acquaintances studying in Australia who were back in Singapore during their term break.

Sushil would have played at FICO if the session scheduled for 25 January 2009 had not been cancelled.

If there is a sufficient pool of participants keen to play regularly at FICO, I could include a FICO session in the regular schedule.

FICO is quite far for everyone (apart from Boris and Rajseran) on a weekday night, and may be more practicable at the weekend.

However, I don’t think we have enough participants interested in playing so far to the west to sustain a regular session at FICO at the present time, whether at the weekend or on a weekday night.  However, if the pool grows sufficiently, I’ll come back to this in the future.

In the meantime, anyone who would be interested in a regular session at FICO, feel free to add your comments below.

If it’s at FICO then it would be awesome. I wouldn’t have to spend 2 hours traveling to play 1 hour of Futsal. 🙂

    Hi Rajiv

I believe Tom and Santi would not mind Fico either . Lets try one session at Fico on weekdays and see how many will sign up . Thanks

It would be more fun if its a ranked game on sundays at FICO

Boris, try introducing your colleagues and your neighbours. Not only might it make a regular FICO session more likely, it will push you up the Introducer Rankings. 🙂

Rajseran, apart from the initial buzz when we first considered FICO as an alternative for the session on Hari Raya Haji (8 December 2008), before some people realised how far to the west it is, Tom and Santi haven’t shown interest in playing at FICO.

I’m not sure if the same applies to Bobby and Shankar.

To get a regular session going, we need almost double the number who play each week, ie, about 15 to 20.

You could always try to arrange a week night session at FICO ad hoc.

It takes me about 15 mins to get to Turf City, the Cage or EC. Getting to FICO takes more than double that time, so I’m unlikely to be a regular there.
Raj & Boris – u guys should go on a concerted FIOFAFI recruitment drive in the Jurong / CCK area. It’s a big catchment. You should easily be able to get enough new blood to sustain regular sessions at FICO.

This needs correction: at least insofar as I’m concerned, it is not so much about distance but the FACT (thanks, Rafa, *snigger*) that all subsequent FICO sessions have been over the weekends. My 1st and 2nd choices (for weekday games) remain Turf City and East Coast.

    @ RedSeason

The other important FACT you failed to mention about FICO is tat they majorly pissed you off when you tried to go down to pay the last time. Bloddy Crooks..

Tom, you used to want to play on Sundays!

My 1st and 2nd choices (for weekday games) remain Turf City and East Coast.

You have to admit that the principal issue with FICO is the distance, which is the point I was making.

Sundays were fine when I wasn’t married.

As far as I’m aware – but correct me if I’m wrong – there hasn’t been a weekday FICO session. I can’t really add FICO as a choice if it doesn’t exist as an option.

@ MSS.com: Hahah. That’s right. Bunch of Fekking crooks.

Lol. Yea, I rather a weekday FICO session than a weekend one.

    @ Rajiv

My colleagues are workaholics and very few of them play regularly. I won’t be here for long so it makes no difference for me in the rankings 🙂

distance is no issue for me, i didn’t get to play there as weekends are difficult and i have a late night meeting on a Monday. If it was on Wednesday or Thursday i would be fine to play there

Unranked games still count in the rankings, it’s just that the result counts for less.

The bigger difference for unranked games is that, for one reason or another, the line ups are not based on the rankings.

As The Premier Pitch is still not available, would those of you living centrally or in the west be interested in playing next Wednesday (4 March 2009), at FICO (Jurong West), 9 to 10 pm?

For those of you living centrally or in the west, it might be worth a shot – to see if it’s workable, and just to try out a different venue. For those in the west, it will be more convenient too. There could still be a second session at The Cage, for those who prefer that venue, or live closer to Kallang.

    Yaseen, ask Zai too.

I’ll include it in next week’s schedule when it comes out tomorrow morning.
