Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man

As I’ve said before, the 9 pm start to our weekday evening sessions is to allow everyone to be at the designated venue on time after leaving work for the day.

If we have a second session on any particular day, it could be at the same time (9 to 10 pm), earlier (8 to 9 pm), or even later (10 to 11 pm).  We managed two sessions at 9 pm on Wednesday last week.

I have some concern about an 8 pm start on week days, as there is a real risk of latecoming after work.

In any event, there were no responses to my suggestion of a extra 8 to 9 pm session at The Cage on either Wednesday or Thursday this week.

I received the following e-mail from Kevin this morning:

Hi Rajiv

I’ve been wanting to return to Futsal but it’s been very challenging given the fact that after work/dinner, I need to put the kids to bed before leaving the house for any form of recreation. It has been impossible to do this before 9pm, hence I’ve not been able to sign up for any sessions.

… I’m just wondering if you could help list a [Wed or] Thu session at Sports Planet or the Cage (depending on which venue has a pitch available) from 10 – 11pm to see if anyone is keen to sign up. I’m willing to take charge of these sessions (settle the payment, bring the ball etc…) if there are enough who would prefer such a time slot. If could also give those playing from 9 – 10pm the option to stay for another hour should they be keen to do so.

Thanks and best regards

One concern I had about a later start is how it might affect sleep. A search on Google produced several answers. It boils down to a matter of individual constitution and personal choice.

Anyone interested in a 10 pm session on either Wednesday or Thursday, please add your comments below.

Even if we don’t have enough for an extra session this week, I’ll come back to this in subsequent weeks.

Kevin, to bring it back here, give it some time.

As more people join us, you’ll begin to find a few more for whom a 10 pm start works better.

That’s the advantage I see in the pooling effect of the blog.

After last night’s session, Murali said a 10 to 11 pm session would be easier for him – that makes 2 – Kevin and him.

Anyone else whose kids go to bed at 9 pm, or who might have to work up to 9 pm, let me know if you’re interested in a 10 to 11 pm session. If there are enough players, we can schedule one.

Kevin, did you manage to canvass interest in a more regular 10 to 11 pm session?

The guys are playing again next Wednesday, but it will also be until midnight, which I’m not to keen.

A regular 10-11pm session would be perfect but still not takers.

It will happen, but you might have to wait until next year though. 🙂
