Contact List Update

Fri 16 January 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

The Contact List had reached 83 by mid-December 2008.

The Contact List now comprises of everyone who was already on it as at 31 December 2008, and everyone who has played since 1 January 2009, which brings us to a total of 98.

From now on, everyone who plays will be added, provided I am given their name.

For those of you who provided me with your age last year, I assume you were of that age last year itself, so I have added 1 for the new year. Please check I have got your age correct. For those of you who provided me with your year of birth, there should be no problem.

For everyone who was not on the Contact List before mid-December 2008, I may not have all your relevant details, so please e-mail the missing details to me at fiofafi@totalworlds.com.

At the start of March 2009, and thereafter at the start of each subsequent quarter, anyone who has not participated in any FIOFAFI activity in the previous 2 quarters will be dropped from the Contact List, unless they comment below that they would like to remain on the Contact List. I need to keep the Contact List manageable.

Those for whom the last column of the Contact List is blank have not played since 1 September 2008.

From 1 March 2009 onwards, the regular e-mail updates will only be sent to those who have played in the current quarter, or the previous two quarters, provided I have their e-mail addresses.

Even if you are dropped from the Contact List or no longer receive the regular e-mail updates, you are always welcome to comment on the blog about anything, or to participate in any FIOFAFI activity by confirming on the blog for any session.

After the Contact List is updated in March 2009, I will also update the Age Profile and the Introducer Rankings.

Quite a few of the new names have been introduced by Nick C!

so I have added 1 for the new year.

Can you add more to mine? I’m on an age acceleration programme. Found it on eBay.

    shouldn’t that be a deceleration programme? 🙂

@Boris: Nah, life is better lived wisely, and even better wiser. It says so on the box.

@Jiv: I’ll leave you to decide.

Nick, I don’t have any contact details for Wade, the other Nick and Rolf. If you or they could e-mail them to me, that would be good.

Yaseen, same for Zai and Qaleel.

A simple way to introduce friends and acquaintances to our sessions is to forward the regular updates and occasional extras to them. If you do so, you may wish to copy me on the e-mail, so that I know.

I’ll add them to the updates and extras for a while, until either it becomes clear they’re not going to play with us anytime in the near future, or they ask me to take remove their name.

If they play with us, the go onto the Contact List.

    As stated above

At the start of March 2009, and thereafter at the start of each subsequent quarter, anyone who has not participated in any FIOFAFI activity in the previous 2 quarters will be dropped from the Contact List, unless they comment below that they would like to remain on the Contact List.

Of the 110 names currently on the Contact List, 16 have not played since 1 September 2008 or at all, and are due to be dropped at the end of February 2009.

In addition to anyone who comments on the blog, I will also retain on the Contact List anyone who has introduced at least one person who is still on the Contact List. However, if an introducer was not already on the Contact List, he won’t be added at this stage.

Therefore, from 1 March 2009, to be on the Contact List, you must have done at least one of the following in the current or preceding two quarters:

    • played at least one session;
    • introduced someone who has played in at least one session;
    • commented on the blog.

As I’ve said above, being on the Contact List is NOT a pre-requisite for confirming for or playing a FIOFAFI session.

I’ve also renamed the “Contact List” as the “Participant List” as the focus is now on those who have played with us within the last 6 to 9 months, rather than contact details.

The Contact List has been renamed as the Participant List to reflect the new criteria for inclusion and to remain on the list.

I have also separated those names that will be removed after 28 February 2009 from those that will remain.

As matters stand, the following names will be removed – Amit, Andrew T, Channou, Dedy, Dinesh, Gautam, Hua Hui, Jeff, Justin, Kamalakannan, Lewis, Michael Y, Murali, Nam, Praveen, Sanjay and Tim C.

If any of them wish to remain on the list, all they need to do is comment on the blog.

The following will remain in the list after 28 February 2009 by virtue of having introduced someone who has played since 1 September 2008 – Cahir (introduced Llion), Joe (introduced Bobby), Nicolas (introduced Bret) and Simon H (introduced Andy C).

Rather than wait until 1 March 2009, I’ve proceeded to update the Age Profile and Introducer Ranking based on the Participant List as I expect it to be on that day.

The age range has narrowed to between 22 and 52, and the median age has increased to 37.

Nick C has introduced several new participants since the start of the year, and he comes straight in as third in the Introducer Rankings.

I may also compute how frequently those who are introduced play, by introducer.

Lukas has provided me with further details, while Glenn has finally provided me with his details. The Participant List has been updated.

The median age has been reduced slightly, to 36.5.

I’ve done everything that needs to be done to update the Participant List, except drop the names referred to at Comment 12 above. Instead of waiting until the end of the month, I’ll wait until the end of the week.

All any of them need to do to remain on the list is to comment on the blog. How hard can that be?

Today’s update is the last FIOFAFI-related e-mail that those named in Comment 12 above will receive from me, unless they resume/start playing or commenting on the blog.

Likewise for anyone who has been receiving e-mails since last year as a guest (that is, anyone who has been receiving FIOFAFI-related e-mails regularly, but is not on the Participant List).

Of course, if at any time in the future, you would like to join a session, just find us on the blog, and confirm for the session you’d like to play (subject to availability of places).

With three new names on the Participant List, Reza moves up the Introducer Rankings, and Lukas makes an entry.

Like I said, if you are already on the Participant List, I’ll leave you on it even if you don’t play for more than two consecutive quarters, as long as you comment on the blog from time to time.
