“Cancelled Session” Videos

As last night’s FIOFAFI session was cancelled, Edardy and I joined Look Liew’s regular group from 8 to 9 pm at Sports Planet @ East Coast. They usually play 2 hours from 8 to 10 pm, but were on the waiting list for the 9 to 10 pm slot for yesterday.

Once it became clear that we didn’t have enough for a session last night, I discussed with Look Liew giving him our booking from 9 to 10 pm. However, when Look Liew informed me that he had at most 12 players (including 2 or 3 of us), and that they would only play for an hour, I cancelled the 9 to 10 pm booking.

Edardy and I were there by 8 pm, and joined Look Liew and a friend in a kick-about between the four of us. Boon Yick couldn’t join us as he was only due to arrive back in Singapore after 7 pm.

The rest of Look Liew’s group were late, probably due to the heavy rain earlier in the evening. I suppose that in any event, apart from the issue of the cost, playing from 8 to 10 pm creates all the same issues of punctuality and numbers we face for the same time slot at Bukit Timah campus, and we ourselves have faced when we ourselves played two-hour sessions at East Coast in January 2008.

Just before 8.20 pm, another two arrived, so we started with 3 v 3. After another 10 minutes or so, another 2 adults and one kid joined us, so we had 4 (plus 1 kid) v 4. Shortly after, another three adults and 2 kids joined the game, so it settled down to 6+1 v 5+2.

With variable numbers and kids, it was a social, friendly game, and no one kept score. The game ended at 9 pm. Edardy and I contributed S$10 each for the pleasure.

About 10 minutes before the end, I stopped playing and recorded three short videos of the remainder of the game. The videos are below.

Tom, where is your video camera? I have the tripod. We should make a video on our monday soccer nights before we all get too old to play!
