17 December 2007 & The Blog

Tue 18 December 2007 Leave a comment Go to comments

Despite many being away till the end of the year, we had another good turn out – 5 v 5 – and a decent one-hour work-out.

No game for the next two Mondays (Christmas eve and New Year’s eve), but if any of you are interested in playing at East Coast on Sunday morning (10 am), either on 23 Dec or 30 Dec, let me know by today, and I will ascertain the availability of a court and numbers.

Otherwise, the next game is in the evening of Monday, 7 January 2008, when everyone should be back, so we are likely have good numbers. If we have 12 or more, the way forward may be to have three teams, taking turns over 2 hours. I’ll also check on the availability of the Bukit Timah campus for 7 January 2008, where we can play up to 7-a-side.

Geoff, thanks for coming, and if you’d like to play regularly, we’ll keep you on the mailing list. Likewise, if Steve would like to play regularly, please let me have his e-mail address.

For every game that is confirmed, I will send out an e-mail on the Friday (for Sunday morning games) or Monday morning (for Monday night games) to those who are confirmed. If any of you are confirmed for a game, but can’t make it, please let either me or Teik know, either by e-mail or SMS. My mobile no. is xxxxxxxx, Teik’s is xxxxxxxx. Just remember to include your name, as I don’t have all your numbers.

For old time’s sake, I’ve put Dennis’ previous match reports up on http://fafi.blogsome.com. As Dennis couldn’t make it yesterday, if any of you would like to write a match report for yesterday’s game, please feel to do so. The line-ups were Boon Yick, Geoff, Peter, Steve, Yee Chin (whites) v Amrish, Andrew, Kin, Teik and me (colours). Final score, 14-10 (I think).

PS1 Teik: Does Peter have an e-mail address?

PS2: At a Law Society function last Friday, I was speaking with a member of the Law Society’s veterans football team. He said there are members of the team who are in their 60s even. There’s hope for all of us yet!

As only 3 people have indicated any sort of interest for this Sunday, there is no game this Sunday or the next (although if we can get together 10 for an hour on any of the days off between now and 1 Jan, I’m quite happy to try to put a game together at short notice, subject to availability of a pitch/court).

Next “official” game is on 7 January 2008. I will get back to you with details next week or the week after.

A happy Christmas and a merry New Year to all.

We’ll have a bunch of guys from Marsh who may join us on 7th Jan. If we have too many, we can form 3 teams. Gilbert Lee (copied here) is our Marsh FC captain. Please include him in your e-mail list. Thanks.
