The game started a tad late with Alan and Clive being the guilty ones. But it was game on from the very start.

Reds overcame blacks in a really exciting game. Reds dominated with their total football where each player took turns in defending and attacking. Joel was razor sharp and tucked away some neat goals. Ben was the roaming player who exploited the holes in the black’s defense, showed maturity and scored a couple. John J had his usual quota of goals but it was not enough to rescue the blacks. Blacks lacked a commander in the middle of the park to control play and that led to frustration, evidently displayed by Matt and Alan, who took pot shots from distance.

A comprehensive win by the reds by about 5 goals, final score is I think 11-6.

Actually it was not Alan but myself who was the culprit for coming late…sorry guys had a telco that took forever to end.

The game was an interesting one and the teams well balanced on paper. H/w when it came to the pitch it appears that Reds settled into their game alot more comfortably than the Blacks. This was evident in the smooth and constant role interchange and the fact that everyone took turns to defend, play midfield passing and score. Joel had some real crackers with weird angled shots! And Andy as usual playing a commanding role and Ben, Clive Gilbert all holding the ball very well so much so that it appeared that they had a lot of time on the ball each time they were in possession.

Blacks had the heart and lotsa sprited running from esp John but alas the coordination went awry on many occassions with 2 players committing after the same guy and leaving the open man totally unmarked. Credit hw to Reds who even when marked managed to find space by some slick 1 touch passing which left Reds flat footed on many occassions.

All in all, the result was reflective of the play on a very HOT nite! 🙂

It’s the best game I played in quite a while. Kudos for the commanding presence with Andy & Gilbert giving me pointers and helping me improve my skills and off the ball running. I was aching all over today and I have another 11-a side game later today in the afternoon with my firm’s team against a group of bankers….
