Wednesday Night At The Cage: 1 April 2009
Due to miscommunication, Blacks had 6 players last night at The Cage.
According to Yaseen:
it was 13-11 to the Blacks. … they had rolling subs going on. Whites just couldnt match up with the stamina towards the end as all 5 were streched to the max. Really thought game for whites…

The sides lined up as follows:
- Whites: Yaseen, Nick, Bobby, Lin Kang, Julius
- Blacks: Clive, Wade, Reza, Sam, Chris, Benjamin (5 plus one sub)
One side having a rolling sub is significantly different from the usual regular ranked session. So that the winning side does not gain an excessive benefit from having had a rolling sub, and the losing side is not excessively disadvantaged, there is the option of the result going into the rankings as an “unranked win” – 2 points for Blacks and 1 point for Whites.
The player poll applies as usual:
If anyone who played would like to describe the game in greater detail, feel free to do so below.
The “rolling sub” didn’t last for too long Rajiv as Sam’s fatigue meant that he sat out the bulk of the game.
If that was the case, I can leave it as a regular “ranked win”, and I might put Sam down as having no result (1 point), and whoever replaced him (Benjamin?) as an “unranked win” (2 points), effectively sharing the 3 points between them.
Great game last night – my legs are on fire today! Tough game with the win only coming in the last couple of minutes of the session. Yaseen did his usual David Blaine job of scoring goals from impossible angles – may I suggest random urine samples at the end of matches in future :O)These matches get tougher every time I play!
Urine samples were suggested a fortnight ago. We don’t have the facilities!
Everything Wade fires at the goal post, it goes in!! It was just stunning.. scored 1 Roberto Carlos kind of shot from halfway.. These days, sessions are getting tougher and tougher.. No such things as an easy game.. Clive was a big barrier.. Something like a Wilson parking kind of gantry
The strain i am feeling is getting extreme each day. Sweating more and muscle stretched more..Lin kang did his best despite not playing football over 6 months or something.. Seriously Jiv, the games are much much much competitive now.. Wow……
I’m looking at other kinds of sessions.
You and Nick played on Monday, but Chris played three days in row. Tonight will be Jujing’s third session in four days, while even Benjamin was playing for the second day in a row last night.
Quite a few blinding goals last night and equally, a fair number of soft goals due to people not tracking back. Both sides were positive right from the start, and it was end to end stuff for much of the game.
Wade ended the game with a nonchalant left foot half volley into the top corner which for me was the goal of the night.
I agreed with Reza. I played less than 20 mins in total. My contribution to the team was insignificant.
Fortunately, there was an extra player who took over me.
I shall not be playing any more game till I get back my stamina & fitness. Agreed with Wade & Gilbert : Games are getting tougher.
Sam, I’m trying to devise a more relaxed type of session for those who are older, are coming back from injury, are short on fitness, or who just prefer a more relaxed game.
More information soon.
ok. look forward to it.
As the winning side effectively made a substitution after 20 minutes, I’ve recorded the result as a non-regular win, that is, 2 ranking points for the winning side, and 1 ranking point for the losing side.
