Weekend FIOFAFI
In additional to our regular sessions during the week, we have had a few ad hoc activities at the weekend, in particular:
- Three 11-a-side games on Saturday:
- on 10 May 2008, at Tampines SAFRA, against Kevin’s regular 11-a-side team;
- on 30 August 2008, at Mayflower Secondary School (Ang Mo Kio), in combination with Damian’s Nokia team, against my former colleagues from Shook Lin & Bok LLP; and
- on 17 January 2008, at Meridian Junior College (Pasir Ris), against Steve F’s regular 11-a-side team.
- Four sessions on Sunday evenings at FICO (Jurong West) with Franco’s colleagues on:
Although the Sunday evening sessions at FICO were included in the regular weekly schedule, they were in fact ad hoc, in the sense that they were subject to the availability of Franco’s colleagues, and that line ups were not based on rankings.
The next ad hoc weekend game is the next 11-a-side game scheduled for Saturday, 21 February 2009.
I had considered organising a session of Cage cricket on a Saturday afternoon sometime this month, but I think I would need to know that there is sufficient interest before I do so.
Apart from ad hoc games at the weekend, is there sufficient interest in regular FIOFAFI sessions at the weekend? The following polls might help answer that:
Jiv poll 1 i would be intrested in alternative activities like cage cricket etc. but prefer a night session rather than a weekend. Of course for 1 off things i am happy to do weekends but not on a regular basis
Cage cricket on a Sat afternoon should be fun
Our fourth ever 11-a-side game on Saturday afternoon was successful. It was also our first win as an entirely FIOFAFI squad.
7 votes (59%) in favour of regular FIOFAFI activity at the weekend, but should it be Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon?
The venue doesn’t seem some a big issue for weekend activity.
Since this post was put up, we’ve had the further 11-a-side game on a Saturday afternoon (21 February 2009), and I am currently proposing a 7 or 8-side game this Saturday afternoon (28 March 2009) at The Premier Pitch.
